There is a whole spectrum of reactions when it comes to the topic of sex (LOL, I said a naughty word!), those I have personally encounter fall into these categories:
Group One: Feels a lot of shame and anger around discussing sex openly
Group Two: Feels embarrassed by the topic and often encounters a huge struggle to talk about it
Group Three: Reserves this discussion with those closest to them (trusted partner, doctor)
Group Four: Is open to discussion and debate about sex – may offer TMI, but supports the overall healthiness about sex
I want to talk about sex because it’s the one thing that every one does and mostly look forward to, but don’t talk about.
You know, if we talked about sex the same way we discuss chocolate I think water cooler conversations would be far more interesting at the office.
For something that should be fun to do it offers some amazing health benefits (beside the whole making a baby thing).
Yes you read right! There are some pretty awesome benefits to getting the hanky-panky on in the bedroom!
I would love to interview a guy about this topic, won’t that be LOL-erific! (Seriously, if you’re a dude and would be happy to answer some q’s without getting awkward on me zip me an email!).
Why Sex Is Healthy
1. Healthy heart
It has been noted in several studies that regular sex can lower your risk of heart disease.
An analysis has shown that at the most sexually intense moments, your heart is working hard like you are walking about 9kms an hour (which is really fast!).
2. Less stress
Would you believe that getting busy under the blankets offers the same stress reducing benefits (and fewer calories) as chowing down on your favourite comfort foods?
Grab a partner and go!
3. Better sleep
Experts believe the flooding of feel-good chemicals in your brain is responsible for better sleeping patterns so you wake up feeling more refreshed.
So, you ready for round two? Three? Hey, who’s counting?

The ‘morning-after’ glow is a real thing; it’s not your imagination!
Sex combines great cardiovascular exercise with stress relief and good feelings, so you could argue that a bit of horizontal tango is beneficial for a good complexion.
6. Improves bladder control
This one is for the ladies! A strong pelvic floor is important for avoiding incontinence, and good sex (followed by an orgasm) is like a fun workout for your pelvic floor muscles.
I dare you to tell your Personal Trainer that! Sex is a great form of exercise, though it won’t replace the treadmill. You burn on average 5 calories per minute.
Now I know why they say working out is better with someone . . .
8. Boosts your immune system
Having sex once or twice a week has been linked with higher levels of an antibody called Immunoglobulin A (IgA), which can protect you from getting colds.
It’s not a panacea, although you could try! “Oh look , I’m about to get a cold, lets have sex!” (LOL)
9. Boosts self-esteem
Whether you’re in a committed long-term relationship or are swinging free from the bannisters, quality sex with a partner makes men and women feel special.
You don’t have to do it often, but you should try and do it well.
How can you feel bad about yourself when your partner is chomping at the bit to rip your clothes off?
10. Improves intimacy
Sex offers the perfect opportunity to share your feelings and wants with your partner, and you must encourage them to do the same, so you can enjoy a closer more intuitive relationship like never before
